Are you:
Hosting Galentine's Day and need a quick & easy centerpiece to glam up the table?
Looking for something festive & fun to make with your littles in the spirit of Valentine's Day?
Wanting to add some February flair to your décor without breaking the bank?
This simple DIY Conversation Heart Centerpiece is for you! To start, all you need is a vase, and a second narrower vase or glass (around the same height) to drop inside. For the vase I used, I actually opted to use one of my stemless champagne glasses as the inner vase, and it worked perfectly! Play around with what you have and see what vase/glass combo works best for you.
Once you determine what will work best for the inner vase, fill it a little more than half-way with water. Be careful not to add too much water, as it could overflow once you put your flowers in, which would get your conversation hearts all wet and mushy!
Cautiously drop your water-filled inner vase into the larger vase and begin filling the space in between the two vases with your conversation hearts. I preferred to do this one by one to ensure that the heart colors were well varied and I did not end up with any clumps of one color (can you tell I have perfectionist problems yet? Lol). To fill my vase, it took three 7 oz. bags of Brach’s tiny conversation hearts.
Once the space was filled with hearts, I used .5 inch white ribbon and tied a bow where the vase curved inward. If your vase doesn’t have any curves, I would recommend centering your bow height wise. Additionally, I used white because it was what I had on hand… but more festive ribbon could be fun!
Cut your flowers to the appropriate height for the vase and arrange one by one inside the inner vase, to your liking. I chose pink tulips for mine and cut off about 3 inches beforehand!
Voila! You now have a LOVEly new piece to add to your Valentine’s Day décor… and p.s. – nix the hearts for jellybeans in a couple months, and you’ve got yourself an EGGcelent Easter piece! Haha ok, I’m done… please don’t unfollow, LOL.
